THE TEAMS: Southeast Missouri is 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the OVC after beating Eastern Illinois 84-64 at Charleston on Tuesday night. The Indians completed non-conference play with a 77-75 road win at IPFW. The Indians have home wins over Wisconsin-Green Bay, Kentucky Christian, UMKC, Oakland City and North Texas. Southeast had a neutral court win over California Santa Barbara and the road win at IPFW. The six losses were on the road at Montana, at Arkansas, at Southern Illinois and at DePaul in addition to home losses to Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech. The Indians OVC win was over Eastern Illinois. The two conference losses are by a combined six points.

Tennessee State is 3-10 overall but 2-0 in the OVC with wins over Jacksonville State and Samford.

THE COACHES: Gary Garner claimed his 100th victory at Southeast with the road win at IPFW and now stands 100-88 in his 7th season at Southeast and is 347-252 in his 21st year as a collegiate head coach. The 100 wins makes him the third winningest coach in Southeast history.

Cy Alexander is 3-10 in his first season at TSU and is 280-212 in his 17th year as a collegiate head coach.

THE SERIES: The Tennessee State series is tied 12-12.

LAST SEASON: Southeast beat Tennessee State twice winning 87-61 at the Show Me Center and 89-82 in Nashville when Hale had a career high 31 points.

WINANS TOPS 1,000, TAKES SCORING LEAD: Junior guard Derek Winans has started 71 straight games at Southeast and has 1,054 career points. He hit a 3-pointer with 12:48 remaining in the Austin Peay game to go over 1,000 points. He is the 18th player in Southeast history to score 1,000 points and is currently 16th on the all-time scoring list at Southeast.

Winans had a season-high 29 points against EIU to take over the team scoring lead with an average of 13.8 points per game.

GRIFFIN HAS TRIPLE DOUBLE: Senior Brandon Griffin recorded a triple double against Oakland City with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Griffin had a double-double at Arkansas with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Griffin leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 per game, in assists with 3.3 per game and in field goal percentage at .533. He ranks second in OVC rebounding. .

GONNER NAMED OVC NEWCOMER OF WEEK: For the second time this season, Dainmon Gonner was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 5. Gonner had 15 points and 8 rebounds in win over North Texas, a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds at DePaul and 18 points and 5 rebounds at IPFW.

Gonner is second on the team in scoring (13.6 ppg), blocks (5) and steals (23).

HALE DELIVERS IN CLUTCH: Junior guard Brett Hale hit the game winning shot at IPFW with just 0.8 seconds remaining in the game. It was his first game winning shot. For the game, Hale had 15 points on 5-6 from the field, 3-4 from three and 2-2 from the line.

Hale averages 7.6 points per game while shooting 38% from the field and 38% from three. He is shooting just 73% from the line after leading the OVC with over 91% last season.

KERRY ROBINSON WILL ATTEND TENNESSEE STATE GAME: Former Southeast Missouri State baseball player Kerry Robinson who is now an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals will attend Thursday night's game with Tennessee State. He will be available for autographs and photos from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will present pitcher Tim Alvarez with his All-America award during pre-game ceremonies.

AT THE SHOW ME CENTER: Southeast is 5-2 at the Show Me Center this season and 182-67 (.732) since the 7,000 seat facility opened in 1987.

SID STREAK: Ron Hines, sports information director at Southeast Missouri State, has worked 678 consecutive basketball games. He has not missed a game since 1980. The streak is the longest in Division I basketball.

SOUTHEAST ON RADIO: All Southeast games are broadcast live on the Southeast Radio Network that reaches into five states. Network stations include K-103 FM in Cape Girardeau, KSIM in Sikeston and KWOC in Poplar Bluff. Erik Sean is in his third season as the play-by-play voice of Indian basketball. Todd Bonacki offers commentary on home games with Ron Hines as color analyst on road games.
