Southeast Cross Country Teams Host Meet on Saturday

Oct. 19, 2005

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University men's and women's cross country teams will host the Southeast Invitational on Saturday at Capaha Park. The women's 5,000-meter race begins at 11 a.m. with the men's 5K scheduled for 11:45.

Teams entered include Murray State, Bethel, St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Memphis with a men's team only.

"Both our teams will be favored, but there are some very good individuals on the other teams," said Southeast coach Eric Heins. "Our women's team is really running great right now. We have Lindsay Zeiler and Jen Caywood running at the top and three freshmen really coming on strong."

The freshmen include Juli Koenegstein, Brittni Peck and Amy Warren.

"The men's team is also performing well," Heins said. "Danny Stults and Chris Herren have really stepped up the last couple of meets. We are also getting solid performances by Gabe Lutes, Kirk Nesbit and Brad DeMattei."

The Southeast Invitational will serve as a warmup for the Ohio Valley Conference championships at Eastern Illinois University on Oct. 29.
