Men's Cross Country Wins Blue Division at Greater Louisville Classic

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky. The men captured the team title in the Blue Division. They scored a total of 41 points. The women competed in the Gold Division and finished 9th out of 28 teams with a total of 287 points.

Freshman Brandon Funderburk was the team leader for the Redhawks men. He won the men's 8k with a time of 25:48.88. Junior Danny Stults placed 5th with a time of 26:26.10. Following Stults were Brad DeMattei (10th - 26.37.96) and freshman Jason Lumpkin (15th - 26:51.47). Chris Loseman rounded out the men. He ran to a 17th place finish in a time of 27:00.97.

On the women's side, Juli Koenegstein posted a time of 18:01.57. She finished 20th overall. Teammate Brandi Gervais was the number two runner for the Redhawks women. She finished 57th with a time of 18:47.59. Following Koenegstein and Gervais were Amy Warren (63rd - 18:54.01) and freshman Monica Noble (76th - 19:05.87). Also competing were Linnea Woldtvedt (93rd - 19:19.98) and Esther Mathias (19:51.76).

The Redhawks will return to action on October 12, at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill.
