SAN DIEGO - The Aztecs' quest for their first-ever post-season tournament championship begins at 2 p.m. MDT on Thursday against the winner of the earlier BYU/New Mexico game. The Mountain West Conference released the MWC Tournament bracket and schedule today, which takes place from May 13-15 in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Aztecs, who have a 7-6 all-time record in the MWC Tournament, along with going 1-2 in the 1999 Western Athletic Conference Tournament, have never won a conference tournament, despite advancing to the MWC championship game each of the past three years, falling in 2001 to BYU, 4-3, in 2002 to Utah, 8-1, and last season at home to Colorado State, 3-1.

This year's tournament host, Colorado State, won the regular season championship. The other seeds in order are: No. 2 San Diego State, No. 3 BYU, No. 4 Utah, No. 5 UNLV and No. 6 New Mexico. The tournament format is double-elimination with a single-game championship. The winner of the championship game earns the MWC's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament selection show is slated to be televised on ESPNews between 5 and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
