SDSU's Chiles Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

Nov. 20, 2007

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - San Diego State's Kraig Chiles (San Diego/Poway HS) has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week after helping the Aztecs to a pair of come-from-behind ties over the weekend to secure SDSU's second consecutive Pac-10 runner-up finish, commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday. It was Chiles' third career weekly honor and second of the season.

Chiles, who earlier in the day was named to the all-Pac-10 Conference team as a first-team selection, assisted on Matt McManus' game-tying goal to help San Diego State tie at UCLA, 1-1, on Wednesday night. He also had a game-high five shots as the Aztecs outshot the Bruins, 20-12, including a 13-2 advantage in the second half.

Against Washington on Sunday, Chiles scored his eighth goal of the season in the 69th minute to tie the game at 1-1 for SDSU. He also had game-high three shots attempts.

Chiles, a co-captain, led the 2007 Aztecs in games started (19), goals (8), points (20), and shots on goal (26).

SDSU finished 4-4-2 in conference, putting them in a tie for second with Stanford and UCLA, despite being picked fifth in the preseason poll.
