Aztecs Advance to Fifth NCAA Division I Tournament, Face Sixth-Seeded Indiana in Salt Lake City
San Diego State, regular-season and conference tournament champions, will end a three-year NCAA Tournament drought when it faces sixth-seeded Indiana (18-11; 9-7 Big Ten) Thursday night at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Game time for the first-round game is approximately 7:40 p.m. MST or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the (3) Gonzaga-(14) Xavier game. The contest will be broadcast by CBS with Ian Eagle and Jim Spanarkel calling the action.

The 11th-seeded Aztecs (24-8; 13-3 Mountain West Conference) qualified for the NCAA Tournament after it defeated Wyoming in overtime, 69-64, in the MWC tournament championship game. The victory marked the first time in league history that the conference has had a repeat postseason tournament champion. SDSU won its other MWC tourney crown in 2002.

SDSU is making its first appearance in a postseason tournament since 2003 and its first NCAA appearance since 2002. The winner of the SDSU-IU game will advance to play the winner of Gonzaga-Xavier on Saturday. The Bulldog-Musketeer game will be played at 5:20 p.m. MST on Thursday.

The Aztecs enter the tournament with a six-game winning streakand are coming off wins against Colorado State (64-52), UNLV (63-60) and the aforementioned Cowboys..

Indiana comes into its game with San Diego State having won five of its last six games and is coming off a 52-51 loss to Ohio State at the Big Ten tournament.

This is the first meeting between the two schools, although Steve Fisher owns a 6-10 record against the Hoosiers.
