SFA Wraps Up Road Trip With Sweep Of Lions

Oct. 20, 2007

Box Score

HAMMOND, La. - Just one night removed from setting a new Southland Conference record win streak, the Stephen F. Austin volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (30-12, 30-25, 30-22) win over Southeastern Louisiana.

The Ladyjacks (19-6, 9-0) have now won 60 in a row over SLC opponents and have won the last seven matches against the Lions (9-12, 0-9).

SFA came out on fire, hitting .500 in the first frame compared to the Lion's -.029 clip. Traci Rohde and Ashley Bailey would combine for eight kills, while Bailey would tally four of her match-high seven blocks in the first game

The second game would see much of the same as JJ Jones and freshman Whitney Schott would dish out 14 assists in leading SFA to an efficient .227 mark. Lauren Railey would make strides toward another double-double on the year, picking up five kills and four digs in game two.

Railey would save her best for last, however, knocking home six kills and picking up seven digs in game three. SFA would continue to frustrate the Lion's offense, holding Southeastern Louisiana to a .109 hitting percentage as the Ladyjacks would close things out in the third game.

Rohde and Railey would each finish in double-figures in kills with 10 and 13, respectively. Rohde would add three blocks, while Railey would add 12 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.

Jones would add a season-high five blocks to her match-high 25 assists, while Schott picked up 16 assists as well. Jami Hill would add 15 digs to her season total, pacing three Ladyjacks in double figures.

SFA will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. when Sam Houston invades Johnson Coliseum as the Ladyjacks will be looking for their 10th conference win of the year. The match will also serve as SFA's Dig For A Cure match where donations can be placed to help support the American Cancer Society.
