Box Score

NACOGDOCHES - Junior LaToya Mills scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team to a 76-61 victory over Lamar Saturday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks are now 9-7 (.563) overall and 3-2 (.600) in Southland Conference play.

Lamar had control of the game early, leading 16-10 with 11:51 remaining in the first when SFA head coach Lee Ann Riley inserted sophomore Jennifer Simpson into the lineup. Simpson sparked the Ladyjacks on a 15-6 run over the next 7:41 of the game and SFA was never seriously contested after that. Simpson finished the game with five points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists.

The Ladyjacks pushed their advantage to as many as 18 points behind junior Kirby Killingsworth's 14 points and nine rebounds. Killingsworth also added three steals as the Ladyjacks forced Lamar into 27 turnovers. Junior Britany Vinson got the start at point guard and chipped in 10 points on 4-of-10 (.400) shooting.

SFA was 33-for-67 (.493) from the floor and dominated the glass outrebounding the Lady Cardinals, 44-31. The Ladyjacks also recorded 21 offensive rebounds.

Junior Kendria Smith came off the bench to add nine points and three rebounds while senior Alex Bowman added eight points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds.

The Ladyjacks return to action Wednesday when they travel to Arlington, Texas, to take on the Lady Mavs. The game against UTA is slated to tip-off at 5:45 p.m.
