SFA Extends Radio Agreement with KYKS, KTBQ

July 3, 2003

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin State University athletic department officials announced today they have reached agreement with KYKS-FM and KTBQ-FM to broadcast SFA athletic events for the coming year. The stations, owned by Clear Channel Communications have served as the flagship stations for SFA football and basketball broadcasts for the past several years, and will continue that relationship for the coming season.

"Over the course of the last 10 years, through our association with Clear Channel Communications, more and more people across East Texas have been able to follow Lumberjack and Ladyjack athletics. By renewing this agreement the ability to reach thousands of SFA fans across the area will continue," said athletic director Steve McCarty.

KYKS (105.1 FM), a 100,000-watt FM station in Lufkin, will once again serve as the flagship station for the Lumberjack Sports Network broadcasting Lumberjack football and basketball games across its listening area. Robert Hill, associate athletic director at the university, will return for his 28th season broadcasting Lumberjack football and basketball action on the radio.

KTBQ (107.7 FM), also a 50,000-watt FM station, will once again broadcast all Ladyjack basketball games, with James Dixon, assistant sports information director at the university, handling the play-by-play duties for the second straight year.

All broadcasts can also be heard via the world wide web by logging on to the official athletic web site of Stephen F. Austin State University at, www. sfajacks.com, and following the audio links.

The Lumberjacks open the 2003 football season Sept. 6 when they travel to Monroe, La. to take on the University of Louisiana-Monroe Indians in a 7:00 p.m. start. The broadcast on KYKS-FM will begin at 6:45 p.m. with the Countdown to Kickoff pregame show.
