Track & Field Goes in Search of League Title

Feb. 20, 2003

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams will be in Houston, Texas, Friday and Saturday for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. The championships will be competed at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the Houston campus. The meet is set to begin at 9 a.m., Friday with the men and women's pentathlon. The field events will get underway at 3 p.m., Friday with the men's long jump, while the track events start at 4 p.m., with the women's 60-meter dash. The action will continue Saturday at noon with the men's shot put. The track events will resume Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with the women's 60-meter hurdle finals.

A Look Back ... The Ladyjacks finished second at the 2002 SLC Indoor championships scoring a school-record 95.5 points at the meet. SFA was led by eight All-Southland Conference athletes, including one individual champion. The Lumberjacks scored the third-highest point total (72) by an SFA men's team at the indoor meet to finish fifth. SFA was led by nine All-SLC athletes, including three individual champions.

Up Next ... The SFA track and field team will return to action Friday Feb. 28th, in Baton Rouge, La., at the LSU Last Chance meet.
