SFA Track & Field Heads Back to Houston

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team heads to Houston, Texas, Saturday to compete in the Runsport All-Comers meet. The meet will consist of a 13-team field that will include Cal State Los Angeles, Houston, Northwestern State, Rice (Women), Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, Southwest Texas, Texas (Men), New Orleans, Texas-Pan American and Texas-San Antonio.

Where They Place: The Lumberjacks' Bryan Williams remains fifth in the Southland Conference in the mile run with his time of 4:21.69. Williams is also currently second in the league in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:38.75. Josh Hufstedler is third in the SLC in the 5,000 meters (15:53.08), just ahead of teammate Matt Albertson who has a season-best of 15:53.52. The Lumberjacks have also recorded the league's second-fastest time in the distance medley relay, crossing the finish line with a time of 10:16.28. For the Ladyjacks, Jocelyn Stevens is currently fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.90), while teammate Jessica Claiborne is fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.71. Claiborne is also fourth long jump (19-4.00) and third in the triple jump (40-3.25). Shametra Boykins is right behind Claiborne with a mark of 39-10.75 in the triple jump. Destine Rawls has recorded the SLC's top mark in the shot put with her throw of 48-7.50. Blake Gordon is fourth in the conference with her toss of 45-4.25 in the shot put. Newcomer Kasie Query has recorded the league's top mark in the pole vault (11-7.75), while teammate Jennifer Schreiner is third in the Southland Conference clearing a height of 10-11.75. The Ladyjacks have also recorded the conference second-fastest time in the 1600-meter relay (3:57.43).

Up Next... The SFA men and women's track and field teams will be back in action Saturday Feb. 15, when they return to Houston to compete in the Runsport All-Comers meet.
