(Portland) - USF volleyball fell in four games to the University of Portland, 30-26, 30-21, 20-30, 31-29 in West Coast Conference action Saturday at the Chiles Center. With the loss, USF (9-12, 4-7 WCC) suffers their first Pacific Northwest league sweep since 1998, while the Pilots (6-15, 2-9 WCC) salvage a split in the season series.
USF got a team-high 15 kills on .350 hitting from senior outside hitter Amanda Willnerd, while Portland native, sophomore middle blocker Liz MacAusland, recorded 10 kills and 11 digs in her third straight double-double performance for USF.
San Francisco struggled offensively and managed a .123 hitting percentage for the match, while the Pilots hit for a .203 average.
Sophomore outside hitter Brittanie Budinger tallied seven kills and added 14 digs, sharing the team lead in the category with junior defensive specialist Francesca Pomilia, who also recorded 14 digs.
USF returns to WCC action when they host Loyola Marymount Friday and #12 Pepperdine Saturday. Both games begin at 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym.
