USF Women's Golf Surges During Second Round of Edean Ihlanfeldt

(Sammamish, WA) - USF women's gold shook off a poor first round and carded a 295 in second round action at the 2007 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational Tuesday at Sahalee Country Club. The Dons cut 21 strokes off their score from Monday's opening round and have moved from 11th place to eighth with 18 holes remaining on Wednesday at the par-72 course playing at 6,127 yards. After two rounds, San Francisco sits at 611 (316, 295).

Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov led the charge for USF with a three-under 69, moving 14 spots up the leader board into a share of sixth place at 146 (77, 69). Senior Jessica Potter also vaulted 19 places to a share of 17th with an even-par 72 and a two round tally of 151 (79, 72). Cvitanov led the Dons with 16 holes at par or better, including a team-high five birdies on the day. Potter was second with 14 holes at par or better, including four birdies.

With 18 holes remaining in the strong field at the 26th annual event, hosted by the University of Washington, USF is in four strokes behind West Coast Conference rival No. 17 Pepperdine in seventh place. Southern California retains its lead at 587 (296, 291), followed by Arizona State at 596 (301, 295), one stroke in front of Oregon at 597 (307, 290). Arizona is in fourth at 601 (305, 296) and California rounds out the top-five with a 602 (305, 297).
