The potential of Portland's lineup was always there. It just took a couple of months to develop.

After a slow start dropped them to last place, the Beavers have become the power-driven team they appeared to be after spring training.

Suddenly, the Beavers (31-28) have the look of being serious contenders in the Pacific Coast League.
