Samford Volleyball Gears Up For 2007 Season :: Players report Tuesday, begin practice Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team reports back to campus Tuesday to gear up for its first practice of the year. The Bulldogs will begin team practices at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday in Seibert Hall.

The Bulldogs return ten of the 12 players from the 2006 roster. Leading Samford this year are seniors Robin Bishop and Angela Dempski. Juniors returning are Courtney Gay, Jackie Jaszcz, Kirstein Sosnowski, and Sara Sears. Sarah Gardner, Katie Luckman, Sheridan Stangohr, and Alyssa Trimpe are all returning sophomores who welcome three freshmen to the squad in Samantha Bland, Hillary Fountain, and Rachel Gadberry.

"I am looking forward to this season," Samford head coach Michelle Durban said. "We finally have depth and it will be a very competitive preseason camp. We are looking to make some noise in the OVC this season and the road towards our goals starts tomorrow at 7 a.m."

Samford will practice for two weeks before holding their first intra-squad scrimmage on Aug. 18. The Bulldogs will play their first matches of the season a week later as they take on Lipscomb and Belmont, August 25, in the Magic/Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
