Volleyball Falls To Cross-Town Rival UAB, 3-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team (3-8, 1-1 OVC) fell to the UAB Blazers (1-9), 3-1, on Tuesday at Bartow Arena on the campus of UAB. Out of the 21 meetings between both teams, the Blazers are now 20-1 against the Bulldogs.

The Blazers captured game one, 30-24 and finished with 15 kills, six errors, and 34 total attacks with an attack percentage of .265. The Bulldogs leader for this game was Callaway Logan (3K-1E-5TA-.400Pct.), while Samford recorded 12 kills, seven errors and 38 total attacks with an attack percentage of .132 for this game.

The Blazers dominated game two and finished with the win, 30-27. UAB finished this game with 16 kills, nine errors and 49 total attacks with an attack percentage of .143. The Bulldogs finished with 9 kills, 10 errors and 40 total attacks with a low-attack percentage of -.025.

The Bulldogs turned things around for the third game and captured the win, 30-15. Bulldogs recorded 11 kills, six errors and 26 total attacks with an attack percentage of .192, while the Blazers finished with only eight kills, eight errors and 35 total attacks with a low-attack percentage of .000. The Bulldogs' leader for this game was Calloway Logan (4K-2E-9TA-.222).

To end the match with the fourth game, the Bulldogs fought hard, but the Blazers prevailed to be the winner (30-25). UAB recorded 18 kills, nine errors and 56 total attacks with an attack percentage of .161, while Samford finished this game with 11 kills, seven errors and 48 total attacks with an attack percentage of .083.

Samford's leaders were Hilary Gary (10K-3E-31TA-.226Pct.) and Calloway Logan (14K-8E-41TA-.059Pct.), while the Bulldogs finished the match with a total of 43 kills, 30 errors and 152 total attacks with an attack percentage of .086.

The Bulldogs will play host to Murray State on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and UT-Martin on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. Matches will be held at Seibert Hall.
