NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Belmont University's Hollie Davis shot 5-10 from three-point range as the Bruins made 12 three's as a team on their way to a 92-60 Atlantic Sun Conference victory over Samford Saturday night at the Aquinas Center.

Belmont (11-1, 6-0 A-Sun) blew the game open with a 19-5 run midway through the second half. On six trips down the floor, the Bruins hit five open three pointers to move the score from 62-45 to 81-50 in a five minute stretch.

Samford (1-11, 0-5 A-Sun) dropped its 10th straight game. Morgan Vickery led the Bulldogs with her second-straight double figure night. Vickery scored 13 points for the second game in a row and grabbed a career-high six rebounds. Noot Pittman scored a season-high 11 points in an attempt to replace Samford's leading scorer Giovanni Price who missed the game with an ankle injury.

Davis and Candice Mitchell led four Bruins in double figures with 15 points each. Brandi Miller scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Erica Davenport scored 10 points and added nine assists.

Belmont opened up an 18-18 tie in the first half by causing 18 first half turnovers by Samford. The Bulldogs continued to shoot themselves in the foot by shooting 3-11 from the free-throw line in the first half. The Bruins held a 47-33 lead at halftime.

For the game, Belmont shot 54 percent from the floor compared to 42 percent for Samford. The Bulldogs committed 30 turnovers and finished 9-21 from the free throw line. Samford held a 35-34 rebounding advantage but Belmont had 27 assists on 35 made baskets had had 17 steals.

Samford will regroup before traveling to Jacksonville on Saturday Jan. 19, for a 3:30 tip off against Jacksonville University.
