Men's Tennis Announces Signees

June 3, 2003

Coach Kemper Baker has inked three top recruits for the upcoming men's tennis season. Stuart Misner (Brookhaven, MS), Bradley Weaver (Birmingham, AL) and Rob Nunnery (Conyers, GA) will suit up for the Bulldogs in the fall.

Stuart Misner

Brookhaven, MS

#1 junior in Mississippi

Ranked as high as #4 in the USTA Southern Section

Ranked as high as #26 in the United States

4.0 GPA from Brookhaven High School

Just led the Brookhaven High School Team to the Mississippi State Championship as the #1 player

Younger brother of David and Gretchen Misner, both former Samford Tennis players

Coach Baker on Misner- "Should immediately make an impact in the top half of the Bulldogs lineup."

Bradley Weaver

Birmingham, AL

#1 in Alabama, #28 in Southern Section

Won three state championships in high school. Only player to ever win Alabama State Title as a freshman.

4.4 GPA, ranked #1 in class at Vestavia Hills High School

Bryant- Jordan Award Recipient

Coach Baker on Weaver- "Great athlete with enormous potential. Will be an immediate contributor in the lineup."

Rob Nunnery

Conyers, GA

Ranked as high as #7 in GA, #20 in the Southern Section, and #169 in the United States. Currently ranked #25 in the United States in doubles.

#1 singles player at Conyers High School, MVP three years Male Tennis Player of the year- Rockdale County, GA

3.3 GPA

Coach Baker on Nunnery- "Will compete for a spot in the lineup. Could particularly help out in doubles."
