BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Jefferson Adcock completed 14-of-18 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns to highlight Samford's final spring scrimmage Thursday night at Seibert Stadium.

"I was very pleased with the scrimmage," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "I'd like to thank our students and fans for coming out and supporting us tonight. Offensively, I think we made some plays. Jefferson Adcock has just gotten better every practice. Our receivers, as a group made plays.

"Defensively, they made some plays," Sullivan said. "They are a little limited with some of the guys who are hurt right now. But, I think the improvement from the first day of the spring to the last is what you are looking for, and I thought we improved a lot."

Adcock completed his three touchdowns to three different receivers. He connected with Jeff Moore for a 65-yard strike for the first touchdown. Adcock hit Joe Jones with a 10-yard touchdown, and he threw an 11-yard touchdown to Jonathan Lowery. Lowery caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Moore caught two passes for 78 yards and a score, and Jones caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.

The running game was led by Chris Evans with four rushes for 29 yards. Cameron Campbell rushed four times for 26 yards, and Harris Johnson rushed nine times for 22 yards.

"The running backs have done a good job," Sullivan said. "We still have some work to do, but there were some nice runs today. I think our offensive line has had a really good spring, especially our first group, and that's where it starts. If we can keep them going, I think we will be able to move it on the ground some."

On defense, C.J. Brown had six tackles. Michael Hall totaled five tackles, including one for a loss.

"I am really pleased with where we are," Sullivan said. "We're not ready to play our first game yet, but I am pleased with the progress we have made."

The scrimmage concludes spring practice for the Bulldogs. Samford will open the 2007 regular season on Thursday, August 30, when the Bulldogs play host to West Alabama at 7:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
