Bulldogs Look To Clinch Tourny Spot Against Gardner-Webb

SAMFORD: Samford can clinch a spot in the Atlantic Sun Tournament with a win against Gardner-Webb on Thursday. The Bulldogs are currently tied for second place in the A-Sun North with three games left to play. The Bulldogs are 11-13 and are looking to continue its eight-season winning streak. The Bulldogs are second in the A-Sun in free throw percentage and are 32nd out of 325 in the nation shooting 74.1% from the line. The Samford single-season record for FT percentage is 75.9% set during the 1995-96 season. Phillip Ramelli continues to lead Samford averaging 11.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Ramelli is 5th in the A-Sun in FG percentage at 58.9 percent. Tyson Dorsey is ninth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage hitting on 45.9% for his three-point attempts.

GARDNER-WEBB: The Runnin' Bulldogs have won two straight for the first time this season. GWU is 3-10 this season in games decided by 10 points or less. Otis Daniels leads the team scoring 12 points and grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game. Daniels had 16 points in the first meeting against Samford. Tim Behrendorff averages 10.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He is a 55 percent shooter from the floor. The Runnin' Bulldogs shot just 29 percent from three-point range. Chris Wiggins leads the team with 42 made three-pointers. From the floor, GWU shots 40 percent as a team and from the line they are at 70 percent on the season.

INSIDE STUFF: Samford is 1-1 all-time against Gardner-Webb after falling 56-52 in Boiling Springs earlier this season. Samford has won the only previous meeting in Birmingham 77-62 on Dec. 16, 2001.

NEXT: The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against Campbell. Samford will honor its lone senior Cornell Felton in the final home game of his career. The Bulldogs are 12-5 all-time against the Camels and lead the series play in Birmingham 7-1.
