Samford Runner Competes In NCAA Cross Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. ---- Samford University cross country runner Katherine Herring competed in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships Monday. Herring placed 248th in the competition, running the 6K course in 24:29. She was one of 36 of over 250 runners that were the only representatives in the competition for their schools.

The Bulldog runner placed 21st in the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 11, in Knoxville, Tenn., to earn a spot in the National Championship race. She ran the 6K regional race in 22:05.04, making her the only Bulldog to land in the top 25.

Herring was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Year, while also taking the individual conference title at the OVC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 28, in Clarksville, Tenn. She was also named the OVC Runner of the Week three times during the season.
