CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Samford women's cross country team finished first and the men's team came in second at the Front Runner Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga on Saturday.

The women's team finished with 28 points, just above Chattanooga with 29. The men's team had 62 points, while Chattanooga won the race with 21 points.

Lauren Blankenship finished second overall in the women's two-mile race with a time of 11:06. Britney Almaguer came in fifth, running the race in 11:31. Brittney Mensen finished sixth with a time of 11:37, while Michelle Brewer came in seventh with a time of 11:39. Jessica Brewer was eighth in the race, finishing in a time of 11:40. Robyn DeBenedet finished tied for 10th overall with a time of 11:52, and Connie Heiskell had a time of 11:53, good for 12th place.

On the men's side, Drew Anderwald finished eighth with a time of 15:38 in the five-mile race. Bryan Baddorf finished ninth, running the course in 15:39. Michael Hanson finished 15th with a time of 15:57.

Both the men's and women's teams will return to action on October 30, when they compete in the OVC Championships in Martin, Tenn.
