Men's Cross-Country Wins Moccasin Invite

CHATANOOGA, Tenn. - Samford cross-country is off to a great start. The men's team edged second-place Auburn, while the women finished 2nd to host-school Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Freshman Andrew Middleton's collegiate cross-country career has begun, and the results are quite impressive. The College Station, Texas, native finished 2nd at the Moccasin Invite with a time of 15:47. Senior Brett Baddorf was 4th in the race with a 15:52 clip.

Other Bulldog scorers included sophomore Bryan Baddorf (6th, 16:03), junior Chad Johnson (8th, 16:10), freshman Scott Maurer (9th, 16:13) and freshman Brad Polley (13th, 16:37).

The Bulldogs had a score of 29 points. The Auburn Tigers were second with 50 points.

The women's team made an impression at the UTC Opener as well, finishing second with 46 points. UTC won with 30 points.

Junior Brittney Menson was 4th overall with a time of 11:53. Other top-10 finishers for the women's team were the Brewer twins, Jessica and Michelle. The freshmen finished 6th (Michelle with a time of 12:04) and 9th (Jessica at 12:20). The rest of the top six Bulldog runners include senior Erin Geisa (13th, 12:35), sophomore Suzanne Walker (14th, 12:38) and freshman Jessica Jansen (15th, 12:41).
