Track And Field Breaks Five Samford All-Time Records at Alabama Relays

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University track and field team completed competition today (March 20) at the Alabama Relays, hosted by the University of Alabama at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Samford men's team finished fourth overall, while the women's team placed fifth overall.

Individually, Samford's Laura Malnati finished the high jump in fourth place with a Samford all-time record of 5-07, while on day two of competition Brittney Mensen placed second overall in the 10,000 meters with Samford all-time record of 37.19.52.

On the women's side, Samford's Robyn DeBenedet, Britney Almaguer, Michelle Brewer and Lauren Blankenship won the 4x800m relay with a Samford all-time record time of 9.05.19.

In the women's 4x1500m relay, Jessica Brewer, DeBendet, Almaguer and Blankenship won the event with a Samford all-time record time of 19.02, while in the women's 4x200m relay Samford's LaToya Cunningham, Sarah Aultman, Mary Nunnally and Tiffany London won the event with a Samford all-time record time of 1.42.09.

On the men's side, Samford's Sean Rogers, Micheal Smith, Patrick Weaver and Drew Anderwald finished fourth in the distance medley with a time of 10.30.67.

In the men's 4x800m relay, Rogers, Weaver, Christopher Smith and Michael Smith placed third with a time of 7.51, while Anderwald, Michael Hanson, Bryan Baddorf and Chad Johnson also finished third in the 4x1500m relay with a time of 16.30.

The Bulldogs will head to the Stanford Invitational on March 25-26 in Palo Alto, Calif. Meet time is TBA
