Sprint Medley Relay Team Wins At Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --- The Samford University track and field team turned in a solid performance at the 2006 Florida State Snowbird Invitational on Friday, which included a first place finish in the women's distance medley relay team.

The Bulldog foursome of Daphne Anderson, Mary Nunnally, Kady Decker and Robyn DeBenedet finished first in the event with an overall time of 4:09.22, over five seconds faster than second-place Georgia State.

Samford distance runner Michelle Brewer turned in a time of 18:02.20 to finish fourth overall in the women's 5000-meter run. Additionally, Laura Malnati finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 16' 01 ½'' and Ciara Floyd finished 13th in the same event, with a leap of 15' 00 ¾''. Pete Fox finished 14th overall in the discuss throw, with a mark of 110' 03''.

The Florida State Snowbird Invitational continues on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Mike Long Track in Tallahassee, Fla. Results will be posted on www.samfordsports.com following the conclusion of the last event.
