STATEN ISLAND, NY (October 19, 2003) - The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team got their second-straight win Sunday night, dropping the Wagner Seahawks in four games in Northeast Conference action. The Pioneers took the first game 30-26 but dropped the second, 30-27. Before Wagner could continue their rally, Sacred Heart put the match away with convincing wins of 30-18 and 30-16 in games three and four. The win improves SHU to 3-22 overall and 2-1 in the NEC.
Seniors Lauren Lamb (West Bloomfield, MI) and Meghan Eaton (Colorado Springs, CO) had stellar games for the Pioneers. Lamb recorded 10 kills and hit a season-best .500 (10-1-18), making just one error. She also had three service aces and five total blocks in the win. Eaton recorded a double double with 10 kills and 12 digs. The senior hit .320 (10-2-25) in the match.
Freshman Charnette Porter (Framingham, MA) posted nine kills and two digs while sophomore Michelle Clarke (Baltimore, MD) passed out 39 assists and recorded seven digs. As a team, Sacred Heart hits .252 in the match (51-22-115) and notched 10 service aces.
For Wagner, now 1-17 and 0-3 in the NEC, Molly Judge had a match-high 16 kills with eight digs. Victoria Eagles added 10 kills and nine digs.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, October 22nd with a 7 pm match against Central Connecticut.
