Final Stats

WEST HARTFORD, CT (September 26, 2003) - The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team lost to fellow Northeast Conference member, Central Connecticut, in three-straight games on the opening day of the University of Hartford Tournament Friday night. The Blue Devils posted wins of 30-18, 30-14 and 3-24 to improve to 11-1 on the year. Sacred Heart falls to 1-14 with the loss.

For CCSU, Jennifer Cote recorded a game-high 13 kills and a .529 (13-2-19) hitting percentage. Shannon Verity notched 11 kills in 21 attempts against just two errors. Verity also recorded eight digs in the win. As a team, Central hit a very impressive .468 in the match, recording 51 kills in 94 attempts against just seven errors.

The Pioneers were led by junior Stacey Geyer (Amityville, NY) who had 12 kills in the loss while hitting .455 (12-2-22). Geyer also had eight dig to lead the team. Sophomore Michelle Clarke (Baltimore, MD) handed out 30 assists in the match.

The Pioneers are back in action tomorrow afternoon with two matches at the Hartford Tournament. SHU will play the host Hawks at 10 am and Maryland-Eastern Shore at 3 pm.
