BOSTON, Mass. (January 19, 2007) - The Sacred Heart men's and women's indoor track & field teams put together a strong effort at Boston University competiting with the Terriers, UMass and Boston College. The men had seven individual wins and were victories over all three teams while the women had three individual winners and a victory over UMass.
The men posted wins over Boston College, 82-56, BU, 93-46, and UMass, 85-53. The women posted an 80-59 win over the Minutemen but fell to BU, 70-69, and BC, 97-42.
Junior Arman Dixon (Beacon, NY) led the Pioneers with three individual titles at the meet. Dixon won the 55-meters with a time of 6.28 seconds. He teamed with junior Scott Giordano (Hamden, CT) to take the top-two spots in the 200-meters, clocking in at 21.14. Giordano finished in a time of 21.75. Dixon wrapped up his three win day in the long jump with a leap of 23'6.25".
Senior Evan Lasher (Pleasant Valley, NY) was the Pioneers other multi-event winner, claiming the top-spot in the shot put and weight throw. Lasher's heave of 51'10.25" in the shot bested teammate Thomas Stripe (Mahwah, NJ) in second place by just over six feet. Lasher won the weight throw with a toss of 53'11.75".
Junior Ian Straughter (Hackensack, NJ) took home top honors in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13'5.25". Freshman Keith Rowe (Taunton, MA) was the winner of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.92 seconds.

For the women, freshman Brittany Dexter (Ballston Lake, NY) continued her solid start to her career by winning the high jump. Dexter cleared the bar at 5'8". Junior Marsha Locke (Danbury, CT) was a double winner with first place finishes in the weight throw and the shot put. Locke won the shot with a toss of 45'8.50" and took the weight event with a throw of 48'4.0". Freshman Kerry Ojeda (Coram, NY) took second in the pole vault with a height of 10'00.50".
