FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 17, 2006) - Sacred Heart sophomore Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) was named the Prince / Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Competing at the New England Championships, Finkelstein helped lead the Pioneers to a third place finish at the event after taking third in both Flight #5 singles and Flight #2 doubles along with partner Julianne Kasinow. Finkelstein beat Amy Garrity of Holy Cross, 6-2, 6-1, but lost to Fairfield's Gabriela Davila in the semifinal round. The Portland, CT native rebounded to post a 6-1, 6-1 win over Montreal's Manon Guez in the third place match. Finkelstein and Kasinow advanced out of the first round in doubles, but lost their semifinal match to Garrity and Ivette Konopka of Holy Cross, 8-3. They came back to beat Providence's Allison Cohen and Ashley Risollo, 8-3.
