2006 Women's Tennis Fall Schedule

FAIRFIELD, CT (June 26, 2006) - Sacred Heart Director of Tennis Mike Guastelle announced the 2006 fall schedule for the Pioneer men and women's tennis teams with both teams playing a host of tournaments this autumn in preparation for Northeast Conference and dual match play in 2007.

The men and women will open the 2006-07 season across town at Fairfield University on the weekend of September 9th and 10th. The Pioneers will compete in the doubles play tournament with the women taking the court on Friday the 9th and the men on Saturday the 10th.

The women will spend the weekends of September 16th-17th and 23rd-24th in the state of Rhode Island for a pair of tournaments. Newport, Rhode Island, home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, will be home to the 2006 ECAC Championships (9/16-9/17). The University of Rhode Island will host the URI Shootout the following weekend. (9/23-9/24).

The Pioneers will defend their New England Championship on October 14th and 15th when they host the 2006 New England Championships with Fairfield University. The team will close out the fall with an appearance at the ITA Regional Championship at Dartmouth College on October 21st and 22nd.

The SHU men will travel to Queens College after the Fairfield Doubles Tournament for the Scott Satran Invitational on September 23rd and 24th. The Pioneers close out the month of September with a turn in the UConn Invitational on September 29th and 30th.

The team will wrap up their fall season on October 13th and 14th. The Pioneers will pay the defending NEC Champions a visit, playing in the Quinnipiac Invitational.
