LOUDONVILLE, NY (March 30, 2004) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team fell at the hands of the Siena College Saints, 5-2, Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 5-8 in match play this season.

The Pioneers picked up their only win in singles play with sophomore Darcy Shoop (Rocky Hill, CT) earning the victory. Shoop won 6-3 and 6-4 at #5 singles over Brook Fisher.

Sophomore Lauren Galatie (Monroe, CT) took the first set of her #1 singles match with Denisa Hluchova, 6-4. Hluchova rebounded to win 6-3 and 6-2 to take the point. The Saints won the doubles points on the strength of their two wins at #2 and #3 doubles. Hluchova and Sugam Langer teamed to win 8-2 over Jeanne Sampson (Irvington, NJ) and Shoop. Julia Lebedev and Betsy Brookins beat Lissa Von Brecht (Cumberland Foreside, ME) and Katelyn Kittredge (Medfield, MA), 8-2, to win the doubles point.

Galatie and freshman Pamela Pillo (Shelton, CT) teamed to win at #1 doubles for Sacred Heart, beating Disponzio and Brooke Fisher, 8-3.

Sacred Heart is back on the courts this Friday, April 2nd at the University of Hartford starting at 2 pm.
