ALBANY, NY (March 17, 2004) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team came away with a complete sweep at the University at Albany, winning all six singles matches and the doubles point. The Pioneers improve to 5-4 in match play with the victory.
Sophomore Lauren Galetie (Monroe, CT) and freshman Pamela Pillo (Shelton, CT) were straight set winners for the Pioneers at #1 and #2 singles play. Galetie defeated Krista Babiarz, 6-0, 6-0, and Pillo dropped Amanda Brown, 6-0, 6-0. The duo also teamed up at #1 doubles to beat Babiarz and Brown, 8-2.
Also earning singles wins were sophomore Lissa Von Brecht (Cumberland Foreside, ME), senior Jeanne Sampson (Irvington, NJ), sophomore Darcy Shoop (Rocky Hill, CT) and junior Katelyn Kittredge (Medfield, MA).
Von Brecht and Kittredge took the #2 doubles match over Lisa Fund and Kerry Levis, 8-6 to give SHU the double point.
The Pioneers return to action this Saturday, March 20th as they take on Northeast Conference favorite Quinnipiac at 12 noon.
