BRIDGEPORT, CT (November 14) - The Sacred Heart University women's swimming team fell Iona College 122-81 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-5 on the season. Despite the loss, there were several outstanding performances.
The 400 meter medley relay composed of Senior captain Angela Koenig, freshman Laura Johnson, sophomore Krystina Eikeseth, and freshman Adriana Morgan finished third with a time of 4:59.03. Krsytina Eikeseth went on to win the 200 fly in a season best 2:32.93. In addition, she finished third in the 200 meter back, a new event for her, in a time of 2:48.75. Junior captain Brianne Ryan had a personal best time of 5:07.32 in the 400 meter freestyle, placing fourth in the event. Koenig had a stellar day finishing third in the 800 meter freestyle in a season best time of 10:50 and finishing second in the 200 back in a time of 2:41.91. Adriana Morgan finished third in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 2:20.97, and second in the 400 freestyle in 4:54.75, trumping her previous season bests in both events.
Sophomore diver Elizabeth Schweitzer once again got the job done for the team winning the 3 meter diving competition and placing second on 1 meter.
The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday November 20 when they travel to C.W. Post. The match starts at 2:00 PM.
