Bridgeport, CT (November 1, 2003) - The Sacred Heart University women's swimming team defeated Manhattan 139-91 in their first home meet of the season at the Wheeler Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Bridgeport. The Pioneers took first place in seven events and had the second place finisher in nine of the events.

The Pioneers were led by senior Christine DePierro (Cromwell, CT), who finished in first place in the 800- meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle. Fellow senior Katie Dervan (West Roxbury, MA) had a first place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke and finished second in the 200-meter freestyle.

Freshman Krystina Eikeseth (Staten Island, NY) had a pair of first place finishes in the 200-meter individual medley and the 400-meter freestyle while finishing second in the 100-meter butterfly. Freshman Elizabeth Schweitzer (Pottstown, PA) took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Iona on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 PM
