FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart women's soccer team (0-6) hopes to get its first win of the season on Friday when the Retrievers of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (1-5) come to Campus Field for a 3:30 game.
Head coach Kim Banner brings her troops back to Fairfield, after three straight games on the road. The Pioneers have struggled offensively the first six games of the season, scoring just two goals and being on the wrong end four shutouts. In its last game, SHU was blanked by Yale, 3-0.
The Retrievers, a former member of the Northeast Conference but now in America East, have scored nine times, but have given up 18 goals in seven games. They are coming off a 3-1 loss at North Carolina State on Sunday.
The only common opponent for the schools is Bucknell. UMBC fell 5-1, while the Pioneers were blanked 3-0.
