FAIRFIELD, CT (October 7, 2003) - The Northeastern women's soccer team picked up its sixth consecutive win by defeating Sacred Heart, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon at Parsons Field. The Huskies controlled much of the play offensively, outshooting the Pioneers 21-3 in the win. The loss drops Sacred Heart to 5-3-3 overall and snaps the team's five-game unbeaten streak. Northeastern improves to 8-3 overall.

Emma Enstrom got Northeastern on the board in the 25th minute, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead off an assist from freshman Kristen Blake. NU remained tough through the period, and tacked on another goal with just 1:03 on the clock. Sophomore Jessie Haidamaka made a run down the right side of the field, and put a perfect cross to the foot of redshirt freshman Kristin Kowalik, who finished it with a blast to the upper left corner of the net, giving the Huskies a two-goal advantage.

In the second half, sophomore Jess Pfeifer put a perfect ball off a corner kick to the head of Jen North, who finished the play with a goal to give NU a 3-0 lead at the 58:00 mark. NU goalkeeper Cynthia Slowik posted one save en route to her fifth shutout of the season. Senior Leslie Konsig (Millburn, NJ) made nine saves in taking the loss.

Sacred Heart will return to Northeast Conference action on Friday when they host Monmouth at 3:30 pm.
