LORETTO, PA (September 28, 2003) - Senior Paula Pineda (Vigo, Spain) scored a pair of goals to lead Sacred Heart University to a 2-1 victory over St. Francis (PA) in Northeast Conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

Pineda scored her first goal of the match with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half, taking a crossing pass from junior Christel Kalweit (West Barnstable, MA) before beating Red Flash junior goalkeeper Mandy Cammarata from five yards out. Kalweit's assist combined with her three goals on the year gives the junior transfer a team-leading seven points.

Pineda would strike again with just under six minutes to play, dribbling in from the left side before pushing a three-yard shot past Cammarata. For Pineda, it was her first multi-goal game of the year and gives her three goals on they year.

The Red Flash, who fall to 3-5-1 and 0-3-1 in the conference, got on the scoreboard first when sophomore Meghan Pearson blasted a 25-yard shot past SHU goalkeeper Leslie Konsig (Millburn, NJ) in the 16th minute of play. That would be all the offense St. Francis could muster as Konsig and the Pioneer defense kept them at bay to earn the win. Konsig was faced 12 shots on the day needing make five saves to pick-up the victory.

The Pioneers, now 4-2-3 and a perfect 2-0-0 in the NEC, will host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, October 4th at 10 am.
