The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced their academic awards for the 2005 season with the Sacred Heart Pioneers earning All-Academic Team honors as well as four players earning a spot on the National Honor Roll.
The National Academic Team Award program recognizes those institutions that have achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2nd semester of the 2004-05 academic year. The top three teams ranked by Team GPA are designated as Merit Squads while all other institutions with a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher are designated as Academic Squads.
The Pioneers qualified as an Academic Squad after posting a 3.27 grade point average this spring semester.
Qualifying for the IWLCA's National Honor Roll was seniors Natalie Smith and Lindsay Travis and juniors Emily Tully and Nicole Macri.
The IWLCA recognized 152 student-athletes that have all achieved junior or senior standing academically and are members of their school's varsity lacrosse team and have achieved a GPA of at least 3.2 for the spring semester.
