THURMONT, Md. (March 24, 2006) - The Sacred Heart women got their 2006 spring season underway Friday afternoon, finishing third at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Thing Tournament at the Maple Run Golf Course. The Pioneers finished with a team score of 357, third behind Lehigh at the top (344) and the host Mount in second (349).

Freshman Katherine Wolpert (Lafayette, IN) was outstanding, finishing with an 85, three strokes off medalist Tina Olsson of Lehigh who shot an 82. Wolpert's 85 was her season low one round score this season.

Rounding out the SHU top-five was fellow freshman Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) in 10th with an 89, followed closely by junior Kathleen Cummings (Waltham, MA) in 11th with a 90.

Junior Ashleigh O'Rourke (Glenwood, NJ) and freshman Jillian Nery (New Bedford, MA) shot a 93 and 97 respectively.

The Pioneers are next in action next Sunday and Monday, April 2nd and 3rd, at the Monmouth Invitational.
