BOSTON, MA (November 15, 2003) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross-country teams competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, MA. The men turned in their best overall team performance ever with a 25th place finish and had several runners post personal best times for the event. The women finished 27th overall among 36 teams.

Senior Matthew Uzenski (Oceanside, NY) finished 107th in a time of 33:01. Following Uzenski, all with career-best times for a NCAA Regional were sophomore Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) in 145th (33:41), sophomore Robert Howard (Levittown, NY) in 151st (33:45), sophomore Robert Gill (Braintree, MA) in 152nd (33:46), senior Andrew Renna (Danbury, CT) in 170th (34:23), freshman Timothy Larson (Smithfield, RI) in 181st (34:36) and senior Joseph Zalak (Middle Village, NY) rounding out the Pioneer's top-seven runners in 182nd (34:38).

On the women's side, senior Katie Wrinkle (Medford, NY) who placed 58th overall with a time of 22:49 on the 6K course. Fellow senior Suzanne Neglia (Andover, NJ) finished 155th with a personal best time of 24:09. Senior Christina Mendoza (Union City, NJ) was 161st (24:13), sophomore Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) was 185th (24:42), freshman Kathleen Duffy (Monroe, CT) was 194th (24:52), senior Erin Roche (Stony Point, NY) was 216th (25:23) and freshman Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) was 221st (25:35) to round out SHU's top-seven. For Kulasewski and Roche, their times were also personal bests for an NCAA Regional.
 

 

Both teams are back in action next Saturday, November 22nd when the take part in the ECAC / IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt, Park in the Bronx, NY.
