FAIRFIELD, CT (November 13, 2004) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, NY. The women finished 22nd among 35 teams while the men placed 31st out of 37 teams.
For the women, sophomore Katie Duffy (Monroe, CT) was the Pioneers top finisher in 69th place with a time of 22:50.3 on the 6,000-meter course. Her time was the second fastest in school history on a 6,000-meter course.
Following Duffy was junior Jenna Pisani (Vernon, NJ) in 118th (23:33.9), sophomore Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) in 136th (23:49.8), junior Kaitlin Clark (Babylon, NY) in 146th (24:01.4), junior Erin Kulasewski (West Warwick, RI) in 169th (24:25.3), junior Ann Regan (Westfield, MA) in 186th (24:50.2) and junior Katelyn Botsford (Cresskill, NJ) 195th (25:12.9).
On the men's side, junior Tyler Arnett (Clinton Corners, NY) was SHU's top runner in 107th place in a time of 33:27.0. His time set a new school record at the Van Cortland Park course. Arnett broke the mark of 33:40 set by Matt Uzenski in 2002.
Rounding out the Sacred Heart lineup was junior Robert Howard (Levittown, NY) in 171st (35:03.2), junior Robert Gill (Braintree, MA) in 194th (35:33.2), sophomore Robert McDermott (Lindenhurst, NY) in 214th (37:01.7), freshman Joseph Mordarski (Greenlawn, NY) in 221st (37:30.3), freshman Stephen Zito (Guilford, CT) in 222nd (37:32.3) and senior Michael Hannon (Stony Point, NY) in 227th (38:06.4).

Both teams will close out the season next Sunday, November 21st at the IC4A / ECAC Championship also being held in the Bronx.
