Pete Nevins Cross Country Invitational Results

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (October 23, 2006) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross country teams ran at the Pete Nevins Invitational at East Stroudsburg University this past weekend in the final tune-up for both teams before this weekend's Northeast Conference Championship. Both teams ran limited rosters and a modified workout during the race while finishing sixth at the event.

Sacred Heart's top-eight women (Kathleen Henry, Anne Duffy, Katie Duffy, Sarah Tencza, Julia Mahoney, Kathryn O'Connor, Teresa Campbell and Mary Coakley) ran a modified workout during the race while men only ran about 1/2 of the team and only one of their top-six.

The Pioneer women were led by Amanda McLaughlin (Stony Point, NY) who finished 20th overall with a time of 21:08. Senior Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) ran 24th in 21:23 followed by her twin sister Katie Duffy (Monroe, CT) in 27th in 21:29. Sophomore Kathleen Henry (Basking Ridge, NJ) was 29th (21:30), freshman Sarah Tencza (Succasunna, NJ) was 33rd (21:45), freshman Cristina Soares (Naugatuck, CT) in 35th (21:51) and freshman Katie Kobylarz (Newington, CT) in 37th (21:56) rounded out the top-seven.
 

 

Freshman Ryan Murdoch (Niantic, CT) led the men's team in 21st place with a time of 17:20. Freshman Michael Bellio (Fitchburg, MA) finished 35th (18:03), freshman Jospeh Sacramone (Astoria, NY) was 48th (18:45), freshman Matt Miller (Blauvelt, NY) was 54th (18:55) and sophomore Jared Scata (Lebanon, CT) in 61st (19:08) round out the SHU field of runners.

The NEC Championships will take place this weekend at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York this Friday, October 27th. The race will start at 12:45 pm.
