Connecticut College Invitational Women's Results
WATERFORD, Conn. (September 9, 2006) - The Sacred Heart men and women's cross country teams opened the 2006 season Saturday afternoon competiting at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut. The women came home in fourth place in a 27 team field while the men took 13th among 30 teams.
Sophomore Kathleen Henry (Basking Ridge, NJ) had a strong opening to the season finishing second overall, just seven seconds behind race winner Catherine Beck of Tufts. Henry clocked in at 18:13
The Pioneers had another top-10 runner in senior Anne Duffy (Monroe, CT) who placed 10th with a time of 19:05. Her twin sister, Katie Duffy (Monroe, CT) finished in 26th place with a time of 19:37.
Rounding out the Pioneer top-seven was freshman Sarah Tencza (Succasunna, NJ) in 46th (20:05), freshman Theresa Campbell (Colonia, NJ) in 71st (20:31), senior Kathryn O'Connor (Bellmore, NY) in 78th (20:39) and senior Julia Mahoney (Topsfield, MA) in 82nd (20:43).
On the men's side, freshman Brendan Rickert (Danbury, CT) was the Pioneers top-runner with a time of 27:25, finishing 83rd. Right on his heels was sophomore captain David Jones (Charlton, NY) in 85th with a time of 27:28.

The remaining top-seven runners were freshman Ryan Murdoch (Niantic, CT) in 92nd (27:32), sophomore Joseph Palma (Gladstone, NJ) in 111th (27:55), sophomore John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY) in 117th (28:02), senior Robert McDermott (Lindenhurst, NY) in 196th (29:19) and junior Stephen Zito (Guilford, CT) in 207th (29:31).
Both Pioneer teams are back in action next Saturday at the Fordham Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.
