The Sacred Heart track & field teams picked up three more Northeast Conference weekly awards Tuesday afternoon. Senior Evan Lasher (Pleasant Valley, NY) was named the NEC Field Athlete of the Week while junior Arman Dixon (Beacon, NY) took home the Track Athlete of the Week award. On the women's side, freshman Brittany Dexter (Ballston Lake, NY) was named the league's Rookie of the Week.
Lasher took over the NEC lead in the shot put, winning with a seasonal best throw of 54' 9 1/2". Lasher topped the IC4A standard of 51' 2 1/4", and missed qualifying for the NCAA Regionals by only 4 inches. Lasher also won the hammer (168' 9"), and the discus (166' 2") at Rider University. He continues to head up the NEC and New England rankings in the discus. He rounded out his day by placing 4th in the javelin with a seasonal best throw of 174' 2".
Dixon reclaimed the top spot in the conference in the 200 meters, with an IC4A qualifying, and winning time of 21.65. With his first place finish at the Rider University seven-team meet, the junior now tops the NEC in both the 100 and 200 meter races. Dixon also anchored Sacred Heart's winning 4 x 100 relay team, carrying the baton across the finish line in an IC4A qualifying 42.05 clocking.
Dexter cleared an ECAC qualifying 5' 7" in the high jump to place second and also ran a seasonal best of 15.58 seconds for a fourth-place showing in the 100m hurdles, The versatile freshman ran the fastest leg on Sacred Heart's fourth-place 4x400 meter relay. She continues to lead the NEC in the high jump.
