FAIRFIELD, CT (February 24, 2004) - Junior Kevin LaPointe (Quebec, QC) was named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender-of-the-Week for the week ending February 22nd for his performance over the weekend at Mercyhurst and Canisius.

The native of Quebec, QC made 19 saves in a 3-2 overtime win against second place Atlantic Hockey rival Mercyhurst and followed that with a 30 save performance the following night at Canisius. LaPointe is now 10-6-2 against Atlantic Hockey opponents this season with a 2.48 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

This was the third time LaPointe has been named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender-of-the-Week. He was also honored on February 9, 2004 and November 17, 2003.

The Pioneers will be back in action tonight, February 24th, when the host Connecticut in a 7:00 pm game at the Milford Ice Pavilion. SHU will close out the week on Saturday, February 28th, with a 7:00 pm game at Army.
