BREWSTER, Mass. (October 24, 2006) - Sacred Heart junior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) shot even par over 36 holes to lead the Pioneer men's golf team to a second place finish at the 72nd Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship Tuesday afternoon. Fillian tied for second in a field of 214 golfers.

Fillian shot a 73 on day one and came back to post the low score on day two with a one-under 71 to finish tied with Jeff Larson from the University of Rhode Island. Fillian won the event his freshman year in 2004.

The Rams won the event with a two-day gross of 588 (+12) at the The Captains Golf Course and it's 36-hole layout on Cape Cod. The Pioneers shot 603 over Monday and Tuesday on the par 72 course to place second in the 43 team field.

Sophomore Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) burned up the leader board, slashing five-strokes off his Monday score to move from tied for 38th to an eighth place tie in the final individual results.

Freshman Adam Petrasovic (Tecumseh, Ontario) finished tied for 28th with a two day score of 154 (73-81). Sophomore Kevin Lauretti (Newington, CT) finished tied for 34th overall by shooting 156 (75-81).
