FARIMINGDALE, N.Y. (September 23, 2007) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished in a tie for 11th place at The McLaughlin hosted by St. John's University at the 6,685 yard Red Course at Bethpage in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Pioneers posted a three-round score of 876 to finish tied with Temple University in the 11th place slot.
The University of West Florida walked away with the tournament title, firing a team score of 830 (-10) on the par 70 course over the two-days. The host Red Storm came up just short on the final day, finished two-strokes off the lead (832).
The Pioneers shot a three-round team score of 876 (+36) and were led by sophomore Adam Petrasovic (Tecumseh, Ontario) who finished tied for 20th overall. Petrasovic shot a one-under 69 on the first 18 holes and came back with a 72 in round two and a 73 in round three for a score of 214 (+4).
Senior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) shot a 75 over his first 18-holes but shaved three strokes off on his second round and hit even par, 70, on the event's final day. Fillian finished tied for 33rd overall (+7)
The Pioneers will take a week off before taking part in the Yale University McDonald Cup on October 5th-7th. SHU will be playing the Yale University Golf Course.
