Women's Golf Concludes First Tournament of Season

The Santa Clara University women's golf team concluded its first tournament of the year with a final round team score of 328 at the Lady Vandal Fall Classic in Moscow, Idaho. The Broncos finished 13th out of 15 team on the par-72, 6,107-yard track.

Following rounds of 331 and 333, the Broncos' 328 was their best round of the year and the ninth best round of the day at the invitational. Freshman Samantha Trask shot a final round 75 to propel her to a team-best finish of 241, tying her for 38th place.

Meggie Fagundes was the next highest finisher for the Broncos with her two-day total of 247 following a final round 83. Courtney Dimpel-Composti shot an 84 on Monday, giving her a three round total of 249, finishing her in 62nd place.

Candice Palmer and Nikki Mack each fired a final round 86 to finish in ties for 72nd and 81st, respectively with their 256 and 261 three round totals. As an individual, Caitlyn McNary finished 91st with a two-day total of 278, firing rounds of 91, 94 and 93 during the tournament.

The University of Oregon won the team title with a 918 total, finishing 10 strokes ahead of Cal State Northridge and 12 shots ahead of Portland State. West Coast Conference teams Gonzaga and Portland finished 11th and 14th, respectively with their team totals of 966 and 1,010.

Oregon's Erin Andrews claimed medalist honors with her 3-over par total of 219, finishing seven strokes ahead of Emma Wahlgren of Cal State Northridge.

The Broncos return to action next Monday and Tuesday, October 6-7, taking part in the Sacramento State Fall Invitational.
