Men's Golf Closes 2004 Season

STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team closed the 2003-04 season with its participation at the U.S. Intercollegiate, hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Broncos played 20 strokes better than yesterday, and carded a final round 289 on the par-71, 6,835-yard layout, to finish in 18th place. UCLA won the team competition following a 14-under par 838 performance. San Diego State is second, 17 strokes back, followed by California in third at 15-over 867.

The Broncos were led by Michael Nicoletti, who finished his rounds nine-over par and tied for 36th in the field. Jong Yoon was next, at 12-over 225, while Jonathan Edwards finished three strokes back. Justin Ahasic placed 88th with a 234 and Matt Klenz tied for 91st at 237.

San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg won the individual competition, after carding an eight-under 205. Ten other competitors turned in scorecards with rounds below par.
