PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf team concluded play in the USF Triumph at the Pauma Valley Country Club in Pauma Valley, Calif., finishing 11th out of the 16 team field with a final team round of 308. Freshman Jimmy Cacho led the way for the Broncos, posting the team's only round below par - his second round 69 (-2) - and then Tuesday's best team round of 76 (+5).

The story of the afternoon was bad luck on the back nine. As a team, the Broncos added 22 strokes on the final few holes. Cacho, who finished with a final round of 76, ended with a double bogey on 18. Senior Jong Yoon had a stretch of four straight holes of bad luck starting on 14 - bogey, triple bogey, bogey, triple bogey - which sent him from one shot under par for the day to seven over with just the 18th left to play.

For the tournament, Cacho finished tied for 24th with rounds of 76, 69 and 76 to lead the team. Yoon was next up, tied for 37th with rounds of 72, 75 and 78. Freshman Scott Travers, who led the Broncos last week at the Callaway Golf Invitational finished tied for 47th with rounds of 75, 77 and 76. Kellen Moss was just a stroke behind Travers, tied for 52nd with rounds of 74, 75 and 80, and Garrett Logan finished tied for 62nd just one more stoke behind with rounds of 76, 76, 80.

With final exams upcoming, the Broncos will take a break from competition and will resume on Monday, April 2 when they travel to Solvang, Calif. for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
